Monday 10/2/1910: Ty Cobb out for 4 weeks BOSTON (A) - Boston (A)'s centerfielder Ty Cobb will miss at least 4 weeks after he got hurt seriously while running hard toward second base. He began limping and then fell down, causing a scary moment for his teammates. He had to be carried off the field. After x-rays were taken the diagnosis did not surprise many: Torn Hip Muscle. Surgery will be performed next week. Ty is hitting .370 this year, with 229 hits in 619 at bats. He has driven in 51 runs, slugging .520. He's 1st in the American League in batting! |

Thursday 4/27/1910: Rube Kisinger out for 8-9 weeks WASHINGTON - When it rains, it pours. Washington's right-hander Rube Kisinger will not pitch for at least 8-9 weeks, handing the team a huge setback. He suffered a serious injury in a game against Cleveland where he left the field in the 5th inning. Ruptured Tricep Tendon was the diagnosis after x-rays were taken in a nearby hospital. The message shocked teammates and team officials. In 5 starts this year Rube struck out 10 batters in 37 innings of work. His ERA is 4.86, his record 2-2. |

Chicago (A) wasted no time and rushed him to an hospital. Team officials were informed later that Phyle had suffered a Fractured Elbow. Bill has a record of 0-4 this season, with an ERA of 4.54. Their hitters found out the hard way that he is among the leagues top pitchers, never having a chance against his overpowering stuff. Waddell (2-2) was overpowering, fanning 11 while walking 1, throwing 103 pitches. 'My catcher called a very good game. I have to give credit to him. He was the main reason I accomplished this feat.' Roger Bresnahan provided New York (A) with the offense Waddell needed as he finished 2 for 5, hitting a homerun, scoring three times with 3 RBI. The final score of the game was 12-1. |
Thursday 4/13/1910: Harry Mcchesney nabs five hits against Washington WASHINGTON - Harry Mcchesney saw the ball really well, leading Boston (A) to a 8-5 win over Washington. His five hits thrilled his teammates and coaches, and Harry seemed happy as well after the game. Hit number 3 followed in the 7th inning, a RBI triple. Number 5 in the 11th inning, a shot estimated at 384 feet, cleared the wall in left field. He had singles in the 6th inning and in the 9th . Harry did drive in 4 while scoring 2 runs on his own. He's having a very good season so far, batting .563. |
